The Soft Power of a New Direction

The Soft Power of a New Direction:
Because even an embryo can decide to begin again.
A healing reflection from my practice.
My client, a young and capable mother to a toddler, shared memories from her childhood that revealed the emotional tone of her upbringing. Her father was very strict- often reacted with sudden anger—scolding her for not starting tasks quickly enough or for continuing to play when he expected to be at the study table. She was frequently reprimanded for being late or not meeting his expectations around time.
These early experiences of unpredictability and criticism shaped how she moved through the world—driven by an unconscious need to be “good enough” and to constantly prove her capability. She pushed herself hard in every role she stepped into, yet felt deeply frustrated and unacknowledged. No matter how much she gave, others seemed to focus on what was missing rather than what she had done. This pattern left her feeling helpless and stuck in a cycle of striving without fulfilment.
🌿 During her trance session, this same pattern surfaced. Each time she began to relax and let go, a part of her would suddenly snap awake—alert, watchful, unable to surrender and let go. It became clear that this response was rooted in her childhood: a time when letting go wasn’t safe, and being at ease could mean getting scolded without warning.
I realised that her inner child was still in defence mode, holding on tightly to a sense of hyper-vigilance and fear. So, I gently began engaging with that inner child—playfully, lovingly. And then, something incredible unfolded.
✨ All of a sudden, she saw herself on the day she was born—a newborn baby, snuggled up next to her mother. She could feel the warmth, the safety, and most poignantly, the joy of her parents… especially her father. She entered a deep somnambulistic trance. Tears streamed down her face as the anger she had long held toward him began to dissolve.
It was a moment of profound healing. That glimpse of truth—the purity of love that had always been there underneath the pain—shifted something within her. The part that had been fighting, guarding, bracing… began to soften. She wasn’t just remembering a moment—she was reclaiming a feeling she thought she had lost forever.
Then I guided her softly back to a time when she was in her mother’s womb.
Almost instantly, her body began to move in an anticlockwise direction on the bed, as if she were floating inside a warm, jelly-like pool. It was deeply comforting and healing for her—a space of pure safety. I gently encouraged her to stay there for as long as she wished.
I could see layers of stress melt away from her body. Watching her in that state was one of the most beautiful and sacred moments I’ve ever witnessed.
After a while, I asked if she wanted to move in the opposite direction. The embryo paused, as if sensing and remembering, then slowly began to turn the other way—reliving her in-utero experience once again, this time with ease and trust.

This session reminded me of something deeply powerful:
Even as an embryo, we hold the wisdom and ability to shift direction.
The body remembers. Because the soul remembers. And when held in a safe, loving space, it knows how to unwind, reorient, and move toward healing—no matter how early the imprint, no matter how deep the memory.
Sometimes, all we need is permission to go back… and the courage to turn the other way.

🌸 Healing, in its truest form, is rarely about fixing what’s broken. It’s about remembering what has always been whole within us.
Witnessing her return to the womb and consciously shift direction was a powerful reminder—healing doesn’t always come from doing more. Sometimes, it comes from remembering that we can choose again. That we can rewrite the patterns, even the ones formed before we had language or form.
The wisdom of the body, the intelligence of the soul—they’re always listening, always ready.
In that sacred space of stillness and safety, even an embryo can decide to turn the other way.
And perhaps that’s the essence of healing:
Not fixing what was broken,
but lovingly revisiting where it all began—
and gently choosing a new direction.
